Maximising the Parkin Mini-Hat

The mini-hat has become a recognised headpiece/fascinator at many cocktail parties and proms. It is seen trimmed both simply and extravagantly, depending on the venue or event.

This class would be a basic introduction to working with Sinamay, and how, when used in conjunction with the mini-hat, a fabulous, wearable millinery masterpiece can be achieved which would be equally at home at a racing event or a wedding.

The finished piece bears little resemblance to a simple cocktail fascinator.

This class is suitable for all would-be milliners with the basic sewing skills and lots of imagination!

Creating a Crinoline Fascinator

Date - Wednesday 29th September

Tutor -  Marjorie Rossi

This one day course will explore crinoline and it's uses in millinery.

Fascinators will be then made and trimming techniques introduced and developed in order to embellish the fascinator.

Millinery Mix 'n' Match

Date - Thursday 14th October

Tutor: Jayne Mulqueen 

This course will demonstrate the basic techniques to block a Parasisal crown, but used in conjunction with a Sinamay brim with a quirky difference. 

Students will be able to create a unique and individual piece of bespoke millinery to be admired by all who see your finished masterpiece. 

Fundamental sewing skills would be an advantage but are not essential, however, imagination and enthusiasm are a necessity!! 

This class would follow fittingly for any students who undertake the September Parkin Mini-Hat course and equally to any novice milliners.

Blocking a Felt Hat 

Date - 26th & 27th October

Tutor - Marjorie Rossi

This two day course will involve indentifying blocking tools and equipment as well as the different shapes and types of felt hoods.

Participants will be able to block a felt hood and then explore the various methods for wiring and trimming a felt hat.

Creating A Sinamay Fascinator

This one day course will explore Sinamay and it's uses in millinery before making Sinamay fascinators and leaning how to trim and embellish them.
