This one day workshop is designed for the individual with little millinery knowledge. You will be introduced to the most common materials used throughout the world for headwear.
This course is advantageous for individuals that are at the beginning of their millinery adventure and would like to familiarise themselves with the correct process of hat making. Throughout the day, you will be taught different techniques and be encouraged by the tutor to put into practice all that you have learnt which will enable you to create a beautiful headpiece.
There will also be time for you to sit with the tutor to take notes and discuss any unanswered questions you may have that have arisen throughout the day.

Understanding the different fabrics
Understanding the bias of fabric • Sinamay trimmings
Millinery stitches • Other trimming ideas
Why materials are stiffened • Understanding the different wires and their purposes
Working with sinamay shapes • Wiring sinamay
Make sinamay trimmings • Attach trimmings and wired shape onto a base
Attach a head fixing • Finish off with any unanswered questions
Run through everything you have been taught
Make sure notes are correct and easy to understand
